Once upon a time, Fainland, Maine, was like any other small town in Washington County. Some would have called it quaint and peaceful: others might have called it dead. In any case, all of that changed when a young man decided to build a private school right in the heart of the town.
Fainland Academy is a 6th-12th grade boarding school for kids from all walks of life all over the country. Additionally, it offers year-round housing and schooling for orphans and foster children within the same age group. Some people loved the addition of Fainland Academy, believing that it brought their town more income and encouraged young people to consider Maine as their home. Others felt like Fainland Academy was threatening the traditions of their town.
Lately, it seems like there is a rivalry developing between the "townies" and the "boarders." There are prejudices on either side. The townies don't think the boarders respect the land or history; the boarders think the townies are white trash. Local kids who choose to go to the Academy instead of their local public school are considered traitors. Where do you reside? Plot * Home * Application
